Thoughts on the parallels between the WWE Universe and MAGA

In an effort to further establish corporate synergy, World Wrestling Entertainment announced that several of its superstars would be meeting and greeting fellow pro-fascists at this summer's UFC: Freedom Fanfest. This is the event to be held outside of the White House, which is currently occupied by a fascist administration filled to the gills with lunatics, racists, rapists, abusers, and any other despicable trait normally associated with MAGA.

One of the eight names announced for this KlanFest was Chelsea Green, a particularly popular performer with the Disney Adults from Hell. Green has used her soapbox to gently advocate for the very same human rights that her employer and most of her colleagues consistently vote against and lobby to deny, so many of her fans were dismayed at her inclusion in this event. A tweet from Twitter user @margaretencinos would spark explosive discourse, particularly from yours truly:

@Margaretencinos shared an older tweet from Green in which she confronted the exact type of person she will later this summer be shaking hands with and posing for photos with. In this tweet, Green calls out this subhuman's bigotry and proudly boasts about her tolerance and acceptance of people from all genders, even throwing in the "I have family who are trans!" as reassurance to her more liberal views. I was curious to see how someone like Green would respond to this criticism, and she did not disappoint:

So let me get this straight:

  • You are currently employed by TKO, a company who are obviously very pro-MAGA
  • Part of "your job" is appearing at a FanFest that will be filled with bigots and racists
  • Yet that's okay, because you'll "continue to do what I can" to advocate for human rights
I immediately became enraged by Green's tweet to the point that I went on a bit of a warpath, which predictably opened up several floodgates (including some I genuinely did not see coming!). First and foremost, I want to take back one particular sentiment I expressed on Twitter:

It was a lame and unnecessary sentiment from yours truly, and I regret stating it. I shouldn't have used her recovery to dunk on her, and it's the kind of ugly sentiment that detracts from the serious criticism she should face. Poor job by myself.

I certainly meant everything else, though.

Green is a coward and a hypocrite, married to someone who routinely humiliated himself by begging for another run in a company currently being sued for a multitude of sex crimes against women and children. Green is also a sellout, the type of performer who tries her best to have her cake and eat it, too. She is someone without any actual meaningful convictions, and people of her ilk should be relentlessly called out on their hypocrisy.

My relentlessness ultimately led to exchanges with the dregs of Wrestling Twitter: an "aggressive progressive" with a "heightened sense of justice," someone best known for being humiliated on national television by AEW's Dax Harwood, and yet another wrestling personality turned anti-AEW grifter (except this person is a former referee with a meaningless legacy and will be forgotten immediately following their eventual death).

Part of me detested giving these people my attention, yet I was fascinated by the Spectrum of Shitheads I found myself engaged with. It felt familiar, like the kind of exchanges I would have over a decade ago with other idiots who were going to vote for Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

The Aggressive Progressive, who curiously wants to protect hypocrites like Green while simultaneously "going after" the company she works for. It's a remarkable waste of time and energy, and he's the type of fake liberal who should be shunned by the actual progressives. This country is currently occupied by a fascist regime that is openly stealing money from our pockets, among many other sins, and you're going to draw a line at criticizing grown adults for aiding in this pro-fascist movement? Give me a fucking break.

Human rights advocates do not accept blood money after performing in Saudi Arabia. They do not agree to participate in pro-fascist propaganda, and then justify it with "I'm just doing my job." It's shameless, spineless, and indicative of one thing: you truly do not give a fuck about the PEOPLE of this country.

Yet, the Aggressive Progressive wants to give her and her buddies a pass. It doesn't matter if they agree to participate in pro-fascist propaganda or happily accept a 50% pay cut in order to remain a WWE SUPER DUPER STAR. No, we must be nice to them. We have to understand that they're just doing their jobs, that it's the companies we should be targeting. Nope. THAT is how we continue to normalize the outrageous behavior of this administration and its supporters. It's not "pro-worker" to keep the identities of the talent who agreed to pay reductions secret, and Green should not get a pass simply because she is doing her job.

I had a grown man with gray in his beard relentlessly appear in my mentions despite not following me on any social media platform. This is the type of person who lives their life in complete ignorance, their lack of education apparent with every single Tweet they send. There's part of me that will always want to engage with these people for several reasons: 1. There's part of me that believes human beings are inherently decent, and maybe I could get that out of them; 2. It's plain old funny bantering with someone who is clearly not the brightest crayon in the box; 3. It's a method to further expose them and their bullshit. I decided to stop engaging with this individual, though, because there's clearly no point. Stupid people love to demonstrate their stupidity to others, and that's not going to change with this individual. God bless.

Then there's the former WWE referee, who is desperately trying to stay relevant in an industry that couldn't care less about him. He is now a stupid "content creator" who spends their days engaging and enabling some of the dumbest people Twitter has to offer, including someone who claims they called THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATIONS on yours truly. He reminds me of right-wing losers who become talking heads on places like Fox News or NewsMax, talking authoritatively on things they apparently never actually understood.

These are all incredibly frustrating people, each stupid in their own way. They stand for nothing, except protecting the fascist Sports Entertainment promotion and the pro-fascists they employ.

The parallels between the WWE Universe and MAGA have been apparent from the very beginning, and it's only gotten worse as time goes on. They both demonstrate a cult-like devotion to some of the more ghoulish sub-humans in our history, and want to eliminate anyone who challenges them. They are people totally devoid of curiosity, and they latch onto a history filled with lies and scandals. They speak with remarkable authority on topics they genuinely know nothing about.

But here's the most meaningful parallel: we'd be better off without them.

I often fantasize about MAGA seceding from the Union, and how wonderful life would be without them anywhere near it, and I would welcome the same with the WWE Universe. They proclaim they are above professional wrestling, and I would love for them to put their money where their mouths are: leave the professional wrestling industry alone. Go out there and serve your statistically dumb and poor audience (sound familiar?), the bullshit you've taught them to love, and leave everyone else alone.

Unfortunately, those are just fantasies...for now. I will continue to aggressively go after WWE and its talents, especially the utter phonies like Green, but I am done engaging with the idiots I described above. It's not worth it, and it detracts from my ultimate goal: to discover and discuss pro wrestling, and I'm sorry for moving away from that lately. We're all doing our best after suffering a decade of MAGA, which may be taking its final breaths.

If only WWE would follow in their footsteps. Maybe one day.
